Funeral services for Kee Chee, 89, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Lighthouse Church, Cornfields. The Rev. Justin Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery, Cornfields. Chee died Sept. 17, 2010, in Fort Defiance. He was born April 15, 1921, in Navajo Station, into the Big Water People Clan for the Cliff Dwellers People Clan. Chee was a Union worker for the railroad, worked at Powerline, road construction, Page dam, rancher and horse tramer. He enjoyed going to church, playing solitaire, watching old western movies and playing with kids. Survivors include his sons, Anthony Spencer, Eugene Spencer, Leffie Spencer, Gary Jackson, Garland Spencer; daughters, Yolanda Chee, Melicia E. Chee, Emma T. Begay, Virginia Claw, Juanita Tolth; brothers, Larry Yazzie, Tommy G. Begay, Roy Yazzie; 32 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren. Chee was preceded in death by Hostten Y. Begay, Adzon Yazzie Begay; wife, Melita Smith; daughters, Shirley Ann Chee, Marita Baker, Maurita James, Lucille Chee; sons, Sterling Hill, Curtis Chee, Joaquin Chee. Pallbearers will be Leffie Spencer, Bob Davis Yazzie, Angelo James, Frelyn Chee, Tyler Tso, Timothy J. Begay.
