Kelly Anne
Genova
Nov 22, 1960 — Jul 20, 2026
Kelly Anne Genova born November 22, 1960, died unexpectedly and most untimely at age 65, on July 20, 2026, here in Albuquerque, at Presbyterian Hospital, despite the valiant efforts of the medical staff.
Kelly was born in Stuttgart, Germany, to a father in the U.S. Army, and his wife, Jeanne Genova. She has a sister and brother, Tracy and Anthony. She had no children, but took a motherly interest in a young lady, Candace, and her daughter, Evelyn, now aged 11 and provided love and help to them for 20-plus years. She also loved my kids and never ceased to talk of them with me.
Her friends were dear to her. She loved her years at St. John’s College in Santa Fe, studying the Great Books, 1977-1981, with students she came to know well, and love. Her first husband, Stephen, she met there, and they shared this youth for many years.
After her divorce, she met this writer, her husband, James Rawley, who shared many interests with her. They met as opposing lawyers in a Work Compensation case, and years later met again and were soon in love. We celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary this June, going to the cabin at the Dam Site at Elephant Butte, a place we had gone before. The lake was near empty, the towns with new roads and shuttered buildings.
A memorial of shared Family and Friends will meet next Wednesday, at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Carlisle at 10:00 AM. Her beloved sister, brother, mother and I am welcoming all she loved and who loved her for a moment to remember this one-of-a-kind lady, my wife.
