Laura R. Sanchez

July 4, 1944 — April 15, 2025

Albuquerque

SANCHEZ- Laura R. Sanchez, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 15, 2025. Laura was a loving and nurturing mother of five and the most delightful “Grammy.” She spoiled each of her 15 grandchildren as much as she possibly could and enjoyed (insisted) taking care of them when needed so that they wouldn’t have to attend daycare.

Laura was born July 4, 1944, in Chicago, IL, and moved to Albuquerque right after high school to attend college where she met the love of her life and soulmate, Sam, married for 45 years until his passing in 2010. Even in the face of many years of illness and suffering, she remained a steadfast source of hope and kindness, uplifting those around her through her devoted love for the Lord and for her family and positive, fun-loving outlook. Laura centered her life on the Lord, read her bible daily, and made it a priority to share the gospel with all her family and friends through her daily bible verse texts. She was deeply concerned about the needs of others over her own. Laura also loved to bake bread, cookies, pastries and desserts and generously shared her baked goods with her family, neighbors, and her dogs. Laura enjoyed traveling with her children and grandchildren whenever the opportunity arose.

Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her parents: Edward and Irene; her brothers: Edward and Paul; her sisters-in-law, Joan and Lourdes; and her granddaughter, Brianna. Laura is survived by her children: Michael (Dee), Tammy (Mike), Deanna (Mike), Angie (Matt), and Matt (Ja); grandchildren: David, Ben, Nathan, Evan, Madison, Austin, Keiana, Jonathon, Zario, Cybrus, Mariano, Adrian Jr., Vanessa, and Storm; great grandchildren: Xavier, Osella, Omar, Oliver, and Mariano Jr; her dog, Lulu; sister-in-law, Judy; brothers-in-law, John and Bill; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in Albuquerque, Texas, Arizona, California, and Illinois; extended family: Leslie, Rob and Logan, and all of her wonderful neighbors.

Special thanks to her primary doctor and his staff, her hospice nurse and doctor, and all the individuals who provided excellent home health care and visits. We miss her tremendously, and her passing leaves an unfillable hole in our family. Our abundant memories and love of our Mother and Grammy will forever remain in our hearts.
