Laurene C. Russell

Laurene C. Russell, age 82, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  She was born October 19, 1940, in Los Angeles, California to Peter Charles Baca and Josie Chavez-Martin.  She was a graduate of Holy Family High School, Class of 1955.  She married the love of her life, Henry T. Russell, Jr. on October 14, 1963, in Las Vegas Nevada.  Laurene was employed by Albuquerque Academy for 25 years.  Raising her three boys was her greatest accomplishment.  She loved to travel via train, to cruise, sew, bowl, play candy crush, work sudoku puzzles, trees, lakes, and spending time with her family.  She loved eating crab legs and enjoyed eating at buffets.  As much as she loved going out to eat breakfast, she never liked to eat hashbrowns.  Laurene was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Rio Rancho and for many years before, she was a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Albuquerque.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Henry T. Russell, Jr; parents, Peter Charles Baca and Josie Chavez-Martin; aunt, Dorothy Chavez; and uncle, Max Aragon.

Laurene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kendra Russell of Rio Rancho, NM; son and daughter-in-law, Pete Russell and Jessica Del Rosario of Whitefish Bay, WI; son and daughter-in-law, Kurt Russell and Florence Sedillo of Rio Rancho, NM; sister Arlette McClain; sister and brother-in-law, Nanette and Edward Martin of Simi Valley, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Sherry Martin of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Amber Russell, Brittany Russell, Madison Russell, and Isabelle Russell.

Services will be held at 12:00PM on December 6, 2022, Daniels Family Funeral Services – Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.  Interment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
