Leroy Anaya

On Thursday, January 27, 2022, Leroy Anaya, loving father of three children, passed away at the age of 57.  Leroy was born on July 7, 1964 in Clovis, NM to Isidro T. Anaya and Gloria A. Carrillo.

Leroy was preceded in death by his father, Isidro, sister, Angel, grandmother, Lupe, and nieces, Andrea, Tiffany, and Donna. 

He is survived by his three children, Isidro (Angelica), Nichole (Michael), and Isaiah (Meagan), his mother, Gloria, brother, Raoul (Jan), sister, Beverly (Paul), Grandchildren, Gabriel (Cynthia), Domonique, Elijah, Catalina, Renee, Michael, and Leonidas as well as several nieces and nephews.

Leroy was passionate about vehicles and would be under a hood at any given opportunity.  He always kept a clean yard and loved dogs.  There were very few action movies that he couldn’t quote, even laying claim to being responsible for coming up with a few.  Leroy’s enjoyment of professional wrestling contributed to his larger-than-life personality.   Anyone that knew him was familiar with the witty sayings that he used daily to bring a smile and laughter to those around him. 

As his children were growing up, he walked them to and from school every day.   They enjoyed a big yard with many animals and always remember the time that Pop spent teaching them to play football, even in the snow.  He was a stay-at-home dad, even before it became cool.  During his free time, Leroy always found things to do to stay busy.  He enjoyed artwork that included eagles and southwestern themes and, most recently, loved to make dream catchers, canes, and other woodwork. 

Leroy had a knack for building uniquely individual relationships making everyone feel tied to him in their own special way.  His laughter and jokes will be greatly missed.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at Daniel’s Funeral Home located at 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109.

A rosary will be recited on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am  at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church located at 1860 Griegos Rd NW Albuquerque, NM, 87107.

A reception will follow at American Legion Post 69 located at 9000 4th St NW Albuquerque, NM 87114.
