Libby Montoya, a radiant spirit born on July 19, 1932, in the serene landscape of Cubero, New Mexico, departed this world on September 8, 2025, leaving behind a tapestry of cherished memories woven together with love, laughter, and resilience.
Libby Montoya passed away on September 8, 2025, at the age of 93. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Hoagland her first husband, Ezekiel Montoya her parents, Salomon and Leonore Baca, her siblings, Navelino, Maximiliano, Margarita, and Agapita. Also, her daughter-in-law, Casey, her Granddaughter, Vanessa, and her great grandson, Eric Michael.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerard and Donna Montoya from Dover, Florida, her son and granddaughter, Sal and Sasha Montoya, her grandson Aaron, wife Julie, and grandson, Eugene Montoya, from Dover, Florida, her grandson Quentin Montoya and wife Christiana from Albuquerque, NM, her Granddaughter Mina from Albuquerque, her sister Pilar Garcia, and many nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren.
Raised amidst the rugged beauty of her New Mexican roots, Libby carried the essence of her homeland throughout her life—a life marked by both trials and triumphs. The warmth of her heart was a beacon for all who knew her. Throughout the seasons of her existence, she embodied a spirit of unwavering kindness and strength, enriching the lives of those lucky enough to cross her path.
In Albuquerque, where she lived a full life and spent her final days, Libby's presence was felt as a gentle breeze—a reminder of the stories she shared and the wisdom she imparted. Her home was an open sanctuary, filled with the aroma of her culinary delights, where family and friends gathered to share not only food but moments of joy and connection. Libby had a gift for bringing people together, creating an atmosphere where the burdens of life would momentarily fade in the light of shared laughter and heartfelt conversations.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Libby served as a Nurses Aid at the Presbyterian Hospital. Her charitable contribution was to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She was a member of St. Frances Xavier, St. Charles, and St. Mary’s. She enjoyed Crochet, Painting, Gardening, and travel.
