Lillian “Lil” Beatrice Kanaly

1929-2023

Lillian “Lil” Beatrice Kanaly (93), of Albuquerque, passed away in her home Tuesday, July 25^th, 2023. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 29^th, 1929, to Edward and Lillie Touzell. She grew up there with her two brothers. She later married Leonard Kanaly and had three children. They moved to Albuquerque, NM and Lil has resided there since 1967.

She is preceded in death by her parents – Edward and Lillie Touzell, brothers – Edward Touzell, William Touzell, and husband – Leonard Kanaly.

She is survived by Son – Steven Kanaly (Suzanne Romero), Daughters – Nancy Jarvis, and Lori Kanaly (Thomas Meluso). Six Grandchildren – Brelen Kanaly (Ruth), Nicholous Kanaly (Rebecca), Kristin Jarvis, Katie Fields (Jon), Devin Meluso (Lindy), and Nicole Meluso. Seven Great-Grandchildren – Laila, Angelo, Glenn, Rhett, Clara, Charolette, and Tatiana – as well has many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Lil was a strong and independent woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, travelling, learning, and having conversations about the Bible. She loved spending time at the seashore on both the east and west coast. She was a member of the Civic Choir and was a leader in Boy and Girl Scouts. The greatest joys in Lil’s life have been opening her home to family and friends for countless holidays and celebrations where Lil was always welcoming. Many great memories have been made there and will be cherished forever. She lived a full and rewarding life. Lil is now reunited with her mother, Lillie, whom she missed dearly. Our family is saddened by her passing, but her legacy will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed by all; we love you Mom and Grandma!

The celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11am at Daniels Funeral Home, located at 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. She will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery with her late husband, Leonard.
