Linda Rae (Childers) Vincent

December 12, 1954 — September 20, 2010

Linda Rae (Childers) Vincent, a resident of Farmington and La Plata since 1970, passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2010, in the arms of her loving husband and eldest son, while surrounded by family and friends. Her youngest son and older sister living some distance away were also able to be with her as she left this earthly home, listening and supporting her by phone in her final hours. Linda was born December 12, 1954 in Santa Fe the daughter of Donald Ray Childers and Shirley Mae (Crandall) Childers. She was preceded in death Nov. 23, 2004, by her younger brother, Don Childers Jr. Linda is survived by her husband, William A. Vincent Jr.; sons, William (Allen) Vincent III and wife, Jessie, of Ramstein AB, Germany, Beau Ray Vincent and wife, Jamie, of La Plata; parents, Don and Shirley Childers of Williamsburg, N.M.; sisters, Cindy Atkinson and husband, Robert, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Brenda Stradling of La Plata; grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Jonathan, Brody, Anya, Xander, Zane and Micajah; nephews, Zach Stradling (Celeste), Shane Stradling, Bobby Atkinson, Dustin Stradling, Jed Childers, Seth Stradling and Killian Childers; niece, Sarah Atkinson; several great-nieces and nephews; and many other treasured family and friends. Linda worked for San Juan Regional Medical Center for 18 years before transferring to Four Corners Ambulatory Surgery Center in 2004. Many of the friends she made at SJRMC and FCASC supported and loved her until the very end with visits, calls, flowers, and love. The kindness and compassion shown to her by her second family of coworkers and friends was her greatest comfort. In the final notes of her journal she expressed such gratitude for being so blessed and awed by the infallible support of friends who continually surrounded her day after day. Linda lived her life unselfishly, only desiring to help others. She was the peacemaker, the glue that held us all together. Her last Christmas with us was evidence of her love as she worked tirelessly to make blankets and handmade gifts for all her family and friends. Her greatest talent was not her crocheting, cooking, or volunteering; it was her incredible compassion for others and her love for the Lord. Linda never knew a stranger. Her home was open to anyone and everyone. She was so very brave, so very strong, and she is now at peace. An informal viewing will be held from Thursday, September 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, with rosary to follow. The service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Sacred Heart Church, 414 N. Allen Ave. in Farmington, with Father Tim Farrell as celebrant. Graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington. Linda's family would like to pay special thanks to Susie, Dr. Clark and Patty from Basin Hospice, her many dear friends from FCASC, SJRMC, and lifelong friends from Farmington and La Plata. Each and every one of you touched Linda¹s life and ours in such a way it made this journey bearable. Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home 103 E. Ute St. Farmington, New Mexico 87401 (505) 325-8688
