Lloyd Donald Maitreya (North)

Lloyd Donald Maitreya (North) was born on May 12th, 1941, in Greenville, California. He passed peacefully surrounded by family on September 22nd, 2022. He is preceded in death by his first wife Laura Jons, his first daughter Linje “Little Flower”, and his stepson Kory North. He is survived by his brother Carl North, brother Jerry North, sister Donna Meeks, daughter Gwen North-Schuman, his second wife, 7 step children(including Kipling North, Michael Palombo, Jennifer Stone, and Crystal Bahrman), 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

After a robust musical upbringing in the church, Lloyd went on to serve 4 years in the U.S. Navy. He exited with an E-5 rank and the following decorations: good conduct medal, armed forces expeditionary medal, and armed forces national defense service medal.

He then went on to have a full life as a musician, a truck driver, and all around family man. He spent the last 45 years of his life in an “alternative” lifestyle. In this time he was a vegetarian, he studied zen buddhism and other spiritual paths, he lived minimally, and he helped many.

Lloyd was an avid walker and forged trails everywhere he went. He particularly liked a hill in Jemez behind where we lived. He dedicated himself strongly to meditation, and had a gift and passion for music. He had a big heart, and despised the injustices in the world. It was apparent that it hurt him to hear of them. He was a truly kind and loving person and will be missed by many.
