ALLEN" Lois Adelaide Snowbarger Allen, 76, of Albuquerque passed away Oct. 7, 2010, after a valiant battle against cancer. She was born Dec. 2, 1933, in Lancaster, Mo. and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1951, where she was a standout pitcher on the women’s softball team. She attended State Teacher’s College in Kirskville, Mo., and taught grade school in rural Missouri. While working as a nurse’s aide in Kirksville, she met her future husband James O. Allen. The couple married on Jan. 7, 1956, in Lancaster, Mo. After moving to Albuquerque in the early 1960s, Lois worked at the J.C Penney store in Winrock Center. She and James later owned and operated Diamond Transfer. Lois was an avid cook and especially enjoyed cooking large family meals for the holidays. She passed along her cooking skills and many of her favorite recipes to her granddaughter Bailey, 13. Lois was preceded in death by: her mother, Wilma Snowbarger; sister Lenore Sloan; and brother, Bill Snowbarger. She is survived by her husband, James; son, Jim Allen; granddaughter, Bailey Allen; former daughter-in-law, Valerie Allen, all of Albuquerque; four nieces; a nephew; and many friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Boys and Girls Clubs of Albuquerque or Animal Humane Association of New Mexico. Lois’s care has been entrusted to:
