Lora Dee (Tye) Lindley went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. She was born on November 20, 1920 in Bettie, Texas. She graduated from Union Hill High School, East Texas State University (B.S.) and did post-graduate work at the University of Texas. Lora Dee married the love of her life, Kelley Deweese Lindley, in 1942, and they celebrated their 56th anniversary prior to his death in 1999. Lora Dee was an elementary school teacher for 32 years, in Texas as well as in Farmington, at Ladera and Animas Schools. She loved furthering children's education and helping them to learn "how to study" and be a good citizen. Before and after retiring from teaching, Lora Dee was active in many clubs and organizations. She was co-founder of the Farmington Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher's Sorority, along with being elected President and eventually, State President. She belonged to the Daughter of the Nile, Order of Eastern Star, Beauceants, SJCC Ambassadors, the Encore Group, Farmington Museum Member and B. and P. W. She had been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since moving to Farmington in 1961. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lois Velora (Hackler) Tye and James Davener Tye and her sister, Bobbie Jean Bryce. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deedie K. and Stan Strack of El Paso and Grandchildren, Damon Lee Dukes of Irving, Texas, Dionne (Dukes) and James Billstone of El Paso and Dennis William Dukes of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bill Moore and niece, Kerri Towne of Garland, cousin Joyce Porter of Gilmer, nieces, Deborah Roach of Gilmer and Patty Lukis of Tennessee and nephew John Bryce of Gilmer. The family would like to extend special thanks to all her friends and neighbors who loved and cared for her, especially Doris and Jim White, Sylvia and Herman Lee, David Rhinehart, Lila Troutner, Sue and Randy Peck, Russ and Marlene McNealy, Carolyn Attaway and Barbara Schwab. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis Dukes, Damon Dukes, Stan Stack, James Billstone, Jim White, Herman Lee, Bob Ricketts, Ray Mobley and Russ McNealy.
