Lorenzo Polaco

Lorenzo Polaco, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2025, at the age of 96. 

He was born on February 25,1929, at the hospital in Lumberton, New Mexico, and grew with his family in Chama. He was the son of Pedro Polaco and Bernadita Medina. A proud Navy veteran, Lorenzo will be laid to rest with honor at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, joining his parents and siblings. 

Lorenzo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol, and his son, Peter. He is survived by his children, Patricia Love, Patrick Polaco, and Ken Patton. He leaves behind grandchildren, Tiffany Love, Nicole Love, Laurita Polaco, Selina Polaco, Kyle Polaco, and James Polaco, along with nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

Throughout his career, Lorenzo served as president of the Employments Security Commission of New Mexico until his retirement. He was a dedicated supporter of the Special Olympics and had a passion for travel-by car, plane, or motorhome, though his favorite was riding the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad in Chama. 

Lorenzo leaves a legacy as the patriarch of his family, remembered for his devotion to loved ones and commitment to community. 

Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10am, at Carlisle Chapel located at 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, 87113.
