Lorenzo T. Yazzie, 21, of Kirtland, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, in Toadlena. He was born April 14, 1989, in Shiprock, to Tina R. Yazzie and Leo Tom.
He graduated from Piedra Vista High School and was attending San Juan College. He was a member of the ROTC, and was recognized as an outstanding volunteer from San Juan College. He was interested in joining the Air Force. At the time of his death, he was studying for the Air Force entrance test. He was employed by Sonic for the past three years.
He enjoyed feeding the homeless, helping children, watching comedy movies and shows and reading. He was his grandfather's beloved grandchild. Lorenzo was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elise R. Gould; and great-grandfather, Chester Yazzie. He is survived by his parents; great-grandmother, Wilhelmina Yazzie; sisters, Selena Yazzie, Lanada S. Yazzie and Taylor L. Gould; aunts, LaVerne (Jones) Tsosie, Virginia (Melvin) McCabe, Elvira (Russ) Morgan; uncles, Lawrence (Darlene) Gould and Matthew Yazzie. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Cope Memorial Kirtland Chapel, 458 County Road 6100 in Kirtland. The Rev. Duane C. Hammond will officiate.
