Louie Levi Salazar, age 81, was called home to heaven on March 13, 2022. He was raised in Canones, NM by his parents Frank Salazar and Annie Branch. Louie is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Salazar and eldest daughter, Beverly Miller. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Linney (Pancho), Annie Jaqcuez (Dennis), Judy Bazan (Abel), and Janice Salazar (Michael Perrine); grandchildren: Victoria Miller (Zane Crook), Danny Linney (Samantha), Dennis Jacquez (Ashley), Nichole Jacquez (Guillermo Garcia), Jodene, April (Peter Sanchez), and Brittany Chavez (Christopher Barela), Delyna Salazar (Justin Borrego); great-grandchildren: Lexis and Posey Linney, Mateo Sigwerth, Guillermo Garcia Jr., Amari Gee, Genesis, Jayden, Gabrielle Jacquez, Jordyn Sanchez, Victoria and Jacob Teupell, Angelo and Ella Bazan; great-great grandchild: Azariah Maestas.
Louie was a devote Roman Catholic. He practiced his faith throughout his life and passed on religious traditions to his children and grandchildren. The home of Louie and Jessie was a place of unwavering love, comfort, and decadent food. Louie was a devoted father and gave his unlimited support to his entire family always. Louie loved his career in road construction. He started as a laborer at a young age and advanced to superintendent until his retirement. He loved all things New Mexican: the land, the Spanish-American traditions, especially Northern New Mexican. He was an avid lover of all things associated with New Mexican chili: acquiring seeds and plants, gardening, and drying and grinding chili pods through innovated machines and gadgets. He loved all sports but had a special love for Notre Dame and Saint Michael’s in Santa Fe, NM where he attended high school. Anyone who met Louie knew him foremostly for his sense of humor and unique gifts of story-telling and hilarious nick names. Louie was bigger than life and the life of the party. He was a unique soul and will be missed dearly.
Rosary will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 at 6 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, 6440 US-550, Cuba, NM 87103.
Reception will follow the rosary May 9, 2022 at the Parish Hall.

Funeral will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11 AM at San Martin De Porres Church, 8301 Camino San Martin SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121.
Interment will take place Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
Reception will follow the interment on Tuesday, May 10,2022 at Loyal Order of Moose, 2121 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102,
