Louise Marie Johnson

Louise Marie Johnson was born in Boston, Georgia on April 12, 1933. She departed this life June 1, 2022.  

In 1950, Louise was united in holy matrimony to Sammie Lee Johnson, Sr.  Together, Sammie and Louise lived in New York where she was employed by Board of Education City of New York for 30 years.  They raised five children before retiring to Augusta, Georgia in 1994.

Louise was a devout Christian.  She was a deaconess at St. Luke Baptist Church in Queens, New York and an active member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie Johnson Sr., mother, Rosa Lee Walker, father, Madison Barnes, mother-in-law, Willie Ann Mixon, father-in-law, Elkin Mixon and son, William Johnson.

She is survived by her brother, Madison Barnes, four children, Sammie Johnson, Jr., Steven Johnson (Carrie), Rosalind Cobbs and Cheryl Johnson Cuffey (Peter), grandchildren (22), great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
