Lucy F. Sedillo, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and a devoted woman of faith, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at the age of 71.
Born on May 27, 1954, to Edward and Carmen Atencio, Lucy was a cornerstone of her family and a light to those who knew her. A devout Christian, Lucy found her greatest strength and peace in reading the Bible. Her faith guided her life, providing a foundation of love and kindness that she shared generously with everyone around her.
Outside of her spiritual life, Lucy had a creative spirit and a keen eye for hidden treasures. She loved spending her afternoons thrifting and was known for her "DIY" projects, always finding ways to turn the old into something new and beautiful.
Lucy is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Herman Sedillo; her parents, Edward and Carmen Atencio; her brothers, Charlie and Edward Atencio; her sister, Rosalie Armenta; and her parents-in-law, Joe and Lily Sedillo.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Frances Reed, and her granddaughter, Jasmin Reed, along with Jasmin’s husband, Joseph Chavez. She was a proud great-grandmother to Nevaeh Chavez. Lucy’s spirit lives on through her sisters, Josie Lucero and Shirley Hines; her brothers, Ted and Ernest Atencio; and a vast, loving circle of extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her warmth and gentle soul.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
Feel no guilt in laughter, she’d know how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that she is not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever; she would not want you to.
She’d hope that you could carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared,
the days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you, a word someone may say,
will suddenly recapture a time, an hour or a day,
that brings her back as clearly as though she were still here,
and fills you with the feeling that she is always near.
For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart
and she will live forever locked safely within your heart.
