loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away peacefully from this life to his heavenly home on Friday, January 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Ludvig was born in Grenora, ND on March 26, 1939, to Ludvig Ditlev Nielsen and Bernice Wanda Glaze Nielsen. In October of 1958, Ludvig joined the US Army and served at Fort Carson, CO, Fort Gordon, GA, Fort Ord, CA, Germany, France, Fort Bragg, NC, Vietnam, White Sands Missile Range, Panama Canal Zone, and Fort Huachuca, AZ. Ludvig and his wife moved to Socorro, NM in 1971, where he went into partnership with Erick Erickson in a TV/Radio Repair Service and TV and Radio Shack store. He bought out Erick's part of the business in 1980. In 1982 Ludvig went to work for Civil Service at the White Sands Missile Range as a Microwave Technician and in January 1985 he took a position of Project Engineer. He and his family moved to Las Cruces, NM. In April 1992, he retired from the Civil Service and moved back to Socorro with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-laws, Jerome Stanley Borgen and James Towler.  Ludvig is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elicia (Alice) Elena Cordova Nielsen; children, Pauline Bernice Nielsen, Dale Michael Nielsen, and Kimberly Elena Nielsen Bowers and her husband, Tony L.; sister, Wanda Deborah Borgen; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gabriella and Michael Bentley; sister-in-law, Mary (Tommie) Towler; nephews, Byron Borgen, Chris Towler,  and Frank Towler; and a niece and family, Bonnie and Paul Rueb and their children, Steven and Kerry; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Family Christian Center, Hwy 60 & Fowler, Socorro with a viewing from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and the service to follow at 2:00 pm. Rev. Gary Floyd and Rev. Roger Griffith officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the service.  Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 3:00 pm.  Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Sarah Bowers Kreger, Shelby Bowers, Chloe Bowers, Isaiah Bowers, Joel Bowers, Josiah Bowers with Eppie Guzman as alternate. Honorary Pallbearers are Dennis Anderson, Jerry Wheeler, Rick Coddington, Reggie Rodriguez, and all of Dale's friends.  Ludvig had the heart for missions, so in lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to your church's missonary program.
