Luvina "Teri" Shirell

July 21, 1938 — October 27, 2022

Luvina “Teri” Shirell, 84, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022. She was born on July 21, 1938 in Alameda, California. She was a hardworking and caring person who dedicated her life to caring for senior citizens. She helped open up and occupy many of the retirement and assisted living communities that are currently in business today both in Albuquerque, NM and Casa Grande, AZ. Her goal was to foster an environment where seniors could be cared for while helping them maintain their independence. Once Teri retired, she continued to volunteer with local government programs to assist seniors in the community by driving them to their doctor’s appointments, taking them grocery shopping, and ultimately provide them with companionship. Her heart has always been anchored in caregiving and making lifelong connection with each person she was afforded the ability to befriend.

Family was one of her highest priorities and her greatest joy came from loving and watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild blossom in life. She would attend their musical concerts, theatrical productions, softball games, and racing events where you could always find her in the crowd boldly cheering them on. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays because it allowed her the opportunity to gather the family for great food and conversation; making lasting memories by the fireplace. She will forever be remembered as being an extraordinary mother, “Mamo”, cousin, and friend to everyone lucky enough to meet her. Her love had no boundaries and she would adopt anyone as family because she only wanted others to feel loved and cared for.

Mrs. Shirell was preceded in death by her husband Howard Shirell, mother Violet “Vicky” Nickerson, grandmother Hester Silva, and grandfather Papa Silva. She is survived by her children, Vincent Parlante and Stanley Parlante Jr; grandsons Brian Parlante and Daniel Parlante; granddaughter Annette Nuanez (fiancé to Brian Parlante); great grandchild Diego Garcia, all of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her cousins Darnell Silva, Art Silva, Dorene Gomes, Joe Gomes, Laura Carminati, and John Carminati of Woodland, CA.
