Lydia Katherine Andes, 81, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010. She was born on March 22, 1928 in Sonora, Texas to James and Ellis Caldwell. On January 19, 1949 she married Robert “Bob” Andes in Sonora, Texas. They spent several years in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico before finally settling in Farmington in 1957. Katherine was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and horses. She was a fierce Dallas Cowboys fan to the point that no one tried to talk to her if they were losing. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Edie Lyn and George Caldwell and her sister Mary Jim Snelson. Katherine is survived by her son James and his longtime companion Joyce Grau; daughter Linda Bell and her husband Eldon; daughter Glenda Loftin; four grandchildren, Valerie Andes, Jimmy Andes, Kevin Bell and Justin Bell; three sisters, Hazel Caldwell, Genie Whittingslow, Betty Sue McGregor and her husband Bob; and three brothers, J.R. Caldwell and his wife JoAnne, Sam Caldwell and his wife Cindy and Jerry Caldwell. She is also survived by her horse Lassie. The pallbearers are Jimmy Andes, Nate Wright, Kevin Bell, Tim Wright, Justin Bell, and Lloyd Bell. Honorary pallbearers are Earl Lang, Sam Caldwell, J.R. Caldwell, and Jerry Caldwell. The family grateful acknowledges the staff of Good Samaritan Society for their patience, care and love that they bestowed upon Mom. We know that they will miss her almost as much as we will.
