Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Lydia Gurule. She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Ernie Gurule, her grandson, parents Juan Jose and Telesfora Sanchez, brothers Henry, Ralph, Paul and sister Velma.

She dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted and a lifelong member of Nativity of the Blessed Vigin Mary Church. She volunteered at Nativity school when her children attended and then at Alameda Elementary when her grandkids attended. In her retirement years she worked as a crossing guard for Alameda. She loved being outside and tending to her yard. People who passed her house might remember her on her hands and knees pulling weeds.

She is survived by her children Debbie and Andrew, her granddaughter, great granddaughter, her brother Roger Sanchez and wife Mary, her sister Joyce Carruthers and husband Jim and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

The family would like to thank Clarice Carrillo and Neveah Hospice for their compassion and care.

Her celebration of life will be on Friday September 18 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. The Rosary will be held at 8:00 am followed by a mass at 9:00. Burial will take place on Monday 9/21 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.

Pallbearers are Henry Sanchez, Mark Sanchez, Jeffrey Sanchez, Dominic Duran, Diego Duran and Antoinette Duran.
