Albuquerque

Lynn Marie Jump, 70, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a battle with cancer.

Lynn was a beloved mom, Gammy, Gigi and wife who loved her family fiercely. She had a good eye for photography and liked to spend time enjoying the garden and oak trees in her yard when she lived in Iowa and growing vegetables with her grandchildren in Albuquerque. She was a great cook and baker and enjoyed trying new recipes and passing on family favorites to her daughter and grandchildren.

Lynn was born on May 27, 1952 in Lackawanna, New York. She is the daughter of the late John and Josephine “Jo” Kaminski (Garbacz). Lynn and her family moved from Lackawanna to Valparaiso, Indiana in 1964. Lynn graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1970.

Lynn went to Indiana State University to study business. There she met her husband, Mike Jump. Lynn and Mike were married on August 18, 1973 in Valparaiso at St. Paul Catholic Church.

In 1975, Mike and Lynn moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which would be their home for 43 years. Early on they met a group of other couples who became life-long friends, enjoying many games of bridge, gourmet dinners and get-togethers during the next 48 years.

Lynn started work at Collins Radio as an administrative assistant in the Commercial Customer Service department. Lynn continued working on her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Mount Mercy College, graduating in 1982. During her time at Collins Radio, Lynn became an instructor, teaching computer operation and applications to Collins employees. She was proud of the fact that she developed her own curriculum.

Lynn volunteered at her church, her daughter’s school and served as a Girl Scout Leader, taking her troop on camping adventures and field trips.

In 2000, Lynn changed careers and went to work at the Xavier High School Foundation Office in Cedar Rapids, eventually becoming the Annual Fund Director. She was responsible for overseeing and running the three major fundraising activities each year. She particularly enjoyed working with the staff, students and volunteers at Xavier High School and the pastors and staff at all nine parishes in Cedar Rapids and Marion. Lynn was a long-time member of St. Pius X Church in Cedar Rapids and her catholic faith was important to her. She shared it with her family and was a godparent for both her grandchildren.

In 2018, Lynn and Mike moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be close to their daughter and grandchildren.

Surviving along with her husband Mike is her daughter Kristen (James) Meub of Albuquerque. Also surviving are granddaughter Lillian Meub and grandson Colin Meub. She was preceded in death by her brother David Kaminski and sister Elaine Earle.
