Manuel Herrera

HERRERA, Manuel Sr., 89, of Rio Rancho, NM, with his family by his side, took his last breath on earth and his first breath in heaven on October 6, 2023. Manuel was born on February 19, 1934 in Nambe, NM. Manuel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He loved his family more than anything and was always there for them. He was a good, kind, compassionate man and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. He will be missed by his family and friends, and although he has gone to be with our Lord, we will love him forever and always. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelio and Antonia Herrera, son Toby Herrera, grandson Eric Hogue, father-in-law and mother-in law, Juan and Elvira Avila, brothers Lazaro Herrera, and Cornelio Herrera, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Viola Herrera of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter Patricia Valdez (Luciano) of Rio Rancho, NM; son Manuel Herrera, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Gloria Chapman (Charles) of Campbell, CA; and son Robert Herrera of Pflugerville, TX; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. Pallbearers: Charlie Chapman, Jeremy Herrera, Brandon Herrera, Ryan Herrera, Luciano Valdez, Charles Chapman.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Church of Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Road NE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144 at 10:30 am.  Following will be a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am.  Interment will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501 at 10:00 am.
