Gonzales, Marcos J.
Age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 1, 2016. He was born in Socorro, NM on December 12, 1924 to Jose and Edujevun (Jaramillo) Gonzales and was a resident of Socorro, NM. He worked for the mines in Riley, Kelly and Deming, NM for approximately 20 years. He also worked as a Socorro County Road Superintendent and a Maintenance Supervisor. Marcos was an avid lifelong Republican and served as the Socorro County Assessor, City of Socorro Councilman and a Socorro County Commissioner.  Along with all of his commitments he owned and operated the 85 Nightclub for many years. He was very committed to his community  and especially to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; four sisters; grandson, Raymond J. Lara; son-in-law, Richard Sanchez; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Gonzales.  Marcos is survived by the love of his life for 66 years, Lou (Romero) Gonzales; his eight children, Geneva Sanchez, Robert and wife, Barbara, Andy, Michael, Marcos Jr. and wife, Mable, Sylvia Pineda and husband, Polo Jr., Arthur and wife, Lupe, and Joey and partner, Chuck; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Lupe Gonzales, his daughter-in-law, for taking excellent care of our father and grandfather.  A family visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services Chapel, 309 Garfield, Socorro.  The Holy Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 7:00 pm at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with the Mass of Resurrection to be celebrated on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 9:00 am at San Miguel.  Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will be in the San Miguel Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Marcos Gonzales III, Kevin Gonzales, Michael Gonzales, Danielle Gonzales, Justin Padilla and Freddie Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be his children, Geneva Sanchez, Robert Gonzales, Andy Gonzales, Michael Gonzales, Marcos Gonzales Jr., Sylvia Pineda, Arthur Gonzales and Joey Gonzales.
