Margaret T. Cannon

Margaret “Margie” Cannon passed away on May 2, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  She was born in Yellville, Arkansas on January 30, 1922.  She moved to California with her mother and two sisters and graduated from high school in Redding, California.  She met Donald Cannon while he was a student at UC Davis.  They married on October 14, 1950, and moved to the Imperial Valley.  They made their home in Brawley and raised four children.  After her husband passed away and her children were raised, Margie returned to school and received her RN Degree from Imperial Valley College in 1980. Margie loved being a grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and they loved to be at her home. She liked sewing, crafting, reading, and grew flowers and vegetables in her garden every spring. She also loved her very close circle of friends.  Margie was proceeded in death by her husband Don, her beloved daughter Jeanne, her infant grandson John Mitchell Smithers, and her sisters Dorothy and Elaine.  Margie is survived by her sons and daughters-in –law Joe and Patty Cannon of Brawley, Josh and Cathie Cannon of Albuquerque, and daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Roy Walker of Westmorland, her grandchildren Kylee and Katy Cannon, Abby Smithers Carter and husband Robert, Allyn Smithers, Natalie Cannon, and Cannon and Alec Walker. She was able to meet her first great grandchild Weston Carter in March.
The family requests that the Funeral service be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Compassus Hospice at 4801 Lang Ave, Suite 100, Albuquerque, New Mexico, or a charity of choice.
