Margaret Kathleen Lucena of Socorro, NM, passed away Aug. 31, 2022 in Socorro at age 67. Margi, as she was known, was born in Torrance, Calif. on Oct. 18, 1954 to Richard and Esther (Gonzalez) Muldoon. Margi grew up in San Pedro, Independence and Ventura County in California, and met her husband Diosdado in 1970. Their 50-year journey together began in May 1972. Margi raised her four children while supporting her husband in his military career and working in various jobs. Margi loved painting and drawing, and her career flourished after she and her husband moved to New Mexico in 2002. She became one of the top pastel artists in the Southwest. Margi's art was purchased by collectors worldwide and was displayed in galleries across the Southwest; She belonged to various organizations including American Impressionist Society, Plein Air Painters of New Mexico and Pastel Society of New Mexico. Margi was preceded in death by her father Richard Muldoon, granddaughter Emma Lucena, father-in-law Reuben Lucena, mother-in-law Priscilla Lucena and nephews Patrick and Eddie Myers. Margi is survived by her husband Diosdado Lucena; her mother Esther Gonzalez of Montana; children Eric Lucena of Washington state, Kimberly Lucena-Pargas (Ernest) of Socorro, NM, Colin Lucena of Socorro, and Gabriel Lucena of Carlsbad, NM; siblings Patricia Myers of Oklahoma, Maureen Muldoon of Idaho, Debbie Moffatt (Don) of Montana, Michael Muldoon (Ipo) of California, Matthew Muldoon (Ruth) of Germany, Joseph Muldoon (Lisa) of Idaho, Tricia Sanchez of Arizona, Billy Muldoon of Arizona and Megan Muldoon of Arizona; also 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews; special cousins Virginia Gonzalez and Ron Gonzales of California; friend Natasha Isenhour and many other friends. No public services are immediately planned.
