Margaret Moya Chavez, 92 passed away peacefully with family on July 20, 2026, in an Albuquerque Hospice Facility.
Margaret was born March 5, 1934 to Pablo Moya and Gertrude Gonzales. Margaret was married to Abelino Chavez who passed away in 2016. They were married 67 years and together they had four children, Gertrude (Trudy) Martinez, Rosalie Chavez, Debbie Chavez and Danny Chavez. Six grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. Margaret worked for the Springerville AZ Public Schools as a cook. Years after retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Chavez moved to New Mexico to be closer to family where she spent quality time celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, 1st communions, Matanzas's and graduations. Margaret loved traveling and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was the last of a generation in the Chavez and Moya family.
For those who knew and loved Margaret, they will always remember that her love for her immediate and extended family was priority. She was happy, friendly and generous. She prayed a daily rosary for all her nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren and friends. Although Margaret endured much suffering she managed to always present herself beautifully. She loved to dress up, have her hair done and always said that if you don't feel well, get up, take a shower, put your makeup on, get dressed and you will feel better. She was a parishioner of St. Peters parish in Springerville AZ and attended Our Lady of Annunciation in Albuquerque for 3 years before moving to Rio Rancho where she attended mass every Sunday at St. Thomas Aquinas for 12 years. Margaret established a large circle of friends at St. Thomas Aquinas, who she loved seeing and visiting with every Sunday. Even during her last years, she accepted her suffering as the WILL OF THE LORD and was motivated each day by the love of her family. Only God knows what our mission in life is and when it has been accomplished. We find consolation in the fact that our LORD JESUS CHRIST has received Margaret, saying to her, “Well done my Good and Faithful Servant”. She will be greatly missed, living forever in our hearts.
