Margie Diana Ruscetti “Granny,” age 91, of Placitas, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at her home on May 7, 2026. Both of her children were at her side.

Born on April 4, 1935, in Lansing, Michigan, Margie lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, family, faith, and quiet strength. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose gentle spirit and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her.

Margie is survived by her daughter, Diana Lee Savage-Rudd, and her son, John Edwin Smith Jr.; her four beloved grandchildren and her five precious great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ruscetti.

She found her greatest joy in her family and cherished every moment spent with them. Whether sharing stories, offering wisdom, or simply being present, she was a devoted homemaker and an exceptional baker and “cooker.” Her home was always a gathering place filled with love, warmth, and welcome. Her peaceful passing at home in Placitas, with both children by her side, was a final gift reflecting the love that defined her life.
