Maria Felicita Baca

August 17, 1957 — February 28, 2022

Mrs. Maria “Lita” Felicita Baca died peacefully at home on February 28th, 2022, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, at the age of 64 years old.

 

Maria is survived by her mother Mary Apodaca of Albuquerque, New Mexico, her husband Johnny Baca of Rio Rancho, NM, her son Jason Baca of Albuquerque, NM, her son Jon Paul and daughter-in-law Crystal Baca of Rio Rancho, NM, her daughter Juliette Baca of Albuquerque, NM, her sister Frances Apodaca of Albuquerque, NM, her brother Ben and sister-in-law Lorraine Apodaca of Albuquerque, NM, her brother Charles and sister-in-law Rosemarie Apodaca of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by grandchildren Jonny Baca, Josiah Baca, Elijah Baca, Gabriella Baca, Jayden Baca, Benjamin Baca and Henry Baca. Maria is preceded in death by her father Fred Apodaca Sr., her brother Fred Apodaca Jr., her brother Richard Apodaca, and by father and mother in law Juan and Charlotte Baca.

 

Maria was born on August 17th, 1957, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Mary (Montoya) Apodaca and Fred Apodaca. She graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1975 and then went on to study Bookkeeping at the Technical Vocational Institute (CNM). Maria married Johnny Baca on September 1st, 1984, in Albuquerque, NM, they were married for over 37 years and had three children.

 

Maria worked at Smith’s Food and Drug for over 17 years and was a part of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union for that same amount of time. Special interests of Maria’s included sewing, gardening and going to the casino. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

 

Thanks to all who shared the love that she offered in the many ways the Lord blessed her with. Especially in her last days in life as we know it.

Services will be held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Thursday, March 24th, 2022. Rosary will begin at 10:15 AM with Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at Los Padillas Cemetery with a Reception afterwards taking place at Los Padillas Community Center.

No hugging or shaking hands.
Always wear your mask, unless eating or drinking.

 

We are also asking no flowers.

For those that wish to donate food: Due to Covid 19 and our immunocompromised family we are kindly asking that you donate pre-packaged, or store bought or ingredients for food that will be prepared by family.  If you have any questions about food, please contact Debra Candelaria at (505)553-4553.
