Maria Socorro Lujan, passed away on February 12, 2024, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Maria was born on July 1, 1941, in La Cueva, New Mexico to Victoriana and Salomon Gonzales. Her life was a testament to strength, love, and generosity. Her family fondly remembers her as the epitome of resilience and kindness. Her memory will forever be cherished as a beacon of light by all those who knew her.
Maria was a dedicated wife to Tony Lujan Jr., sharing 44 beautiful years together.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Tony Lujan Jr. as well as her mother and father, Victoriana and Salomon Gonzales. Brothers: Marcos(Amadta), Salomon Jr.(Vangie), Estevan(Ramona), Cipriano, Leroy and Juanito Gonzales. Sister: Cesarita Gonzales Brother in law: Estevan Lujan, Sister in law: Patsy Gonzales Companion: Roger Foster.
She is survived by her sons: Gary, Albert and his wife Jackie, Jeffrey. Daughters: Belinda, Donna and her husband Tony. Brothers: Victoriano and Hipolito and his wife Beatrice Gonzales. Sisters: Dolores Lujan, Agapita Pino and her husband Herman, Sarah Salaz and her husband Mel. Sister-in-law Celia Gonzales.
Maria's inspiration will live on through her grandchildren raised by her: Crystal, Pamela, and Dominique. Her other beloved grandchildren: Damita, Donovan, Jacinta, Joaquin, Antonio, Carlos, Augustine, Kimberly, Melarie, and Cassandra. Great-grandchildren: Fiona, Ginger, Vicente, Sebastien, and Jaiden. Godchildren: Pamela Donna Lujan, Damita Trujillo,Wanda Romero, Elizabeth C'deBaca, Michelle Lujan, Paulo Gonzales, Jerome Gonzales, Samantha Varela, and Elaine Sandoval. Maria leaves behind her beloved dog, "Fluffy".

She found joy in dancing and socializing with friends at the Senior Centers, spreading happiness wherever she went. She will always be remembered for her radiant smile.
The family wishes to thank UNM Cancer Center - Dr. Kumar and staff, Legacy Hospice - Melissa (head nurse), Barbara (nurse), Mariah (nurse). Alexis, Monica (nurse tech), and Kimberly.
The viewing will be held on Friday, March 1st at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Pecos from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The Rosary will take place from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a Mass at the same location at 12:00 PM.
"Our mom was the STRONGEST, MOST LOVING, GIVING person we all know, I believe when God called our mom home, he took our mom away from the cancer rather than taking the cancer away from our mom. Death is a beginning not an end. Rest in Peace Madre…We love you."
