Maria Melinda Martinez

MARTINEZ - Maria Melinda Martinez, age 68, passed away peaceful at her home, after a long courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 18, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family. She was a life long resident of Bernalillo, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents Luis and Aniceta Martinez; and by two brothers, Fidel and Francisco Martinez. Melinda is survived by her sisters, Mary Louise, Mary Jane, Linda, Grace and Michelle Martinez; her brothers, Rudolfo, Rufino (wife Maria), Lewis (wife Patsy), Chris (wife Carol), Julius and Brian Martinez. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews; and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Melinda was a licensed Cosmetologist for 45 years; a wonderful cook, who had a beautiful singing voice. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Kitchen, c/o Our Lady of Sorrows, P.O. Box 607, Bernalillo, NM 87004. A rosary for Melinda will be recited Friday, September 24, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Bernalillo, directly followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery.
