Our precious mother Maria J. “Mary” Otero was called home to our Lord “Jesus Christ” on Sunday, April 11, 2021. She passed in peace at her home in Socorro, NM at the age of 93 surrounded by her loving family. Mary is reunited and greeted in heaven by her “Papaito” Maurico, parents Julian & Rosa Garcia, her beloved son Antonio “Tony”, son-in-law Rick, sister Dolores “Lola”, brothers Lorenzo, Matias and many loved ones, grandchildren, family and friends who preceded before her. What a grand reunion it must have been, one can only imagine! Mary is survived by her 10 children and their spouse’s: Rosanna, Ida, Tommy, Julie, Dinnie, Michael, Sarah, Annette, Cindy and Juanita. Brothers and sisters, Olivia, Lucy, Julian and Raymond, as well as a legion of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other friends and family. Mary was born on February 17, 1928, in San Acacia, NM. She led a life dedicated to God and family. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, auntie, sister and friend. To all who knew her, she was a caring and loving individual who touched so many lives. Her love had no bounds, she embraced all and taught us how to love one another and be loved. She lived every day to the fullest. She laughed and danced her way through life as she traveled around the world and across the United States. No matter how far she went, New Mexico was always home. Her most cherished moments were spending time with family and loved ones. Whether we were sitting on the porch laughing until the early hours of the morning, watching a movie at the Loma Theater, cruising the canal/channel or going to the casino. It didn’t matter what we were doing, as long as we were doing it together. Carrying us through the good times and the bad she was our rock, our center, our safe place, she was our home. Her laughter was infectious, smiles sincere, and her hugs always genuine. She could always find the humor in life, even when she didn’t get the joke. The sound of her laughter, witty sense of humor, true kindness and the warmth of her hugs will be missed by all whom she has touched. Quote by: David Harkins; " You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared." A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 11:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, New Mexico with Father John Anasiudu presiding. Burial will take place immediately following at the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery. To view information or leave a condolence, please visit www.danielsfuneral.com. Mary's care has been entrusted to:
