Maria Seferina Ortiz, age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 21, 2026.

She was born on April 9,1938, in Belen, NM to parents Juan and Sista Baca.

She is survived by her brother Ricky Slade, and her children, Berta Ortiz, Robert Ortiz, Linda Sanchez, and Tanya Sanchez.

She was blessed with 4 Children, 7 grandkids, 10 great grandkids, and 2 great-great grandkids.

Mom was simple woman who loved her home, her garden, patio, and her pets. Everyone who knew her loved her and were always welcome in her home. She lived her life to serve Jesus and her family. She was a prayer warrior and spent countless days and years listening to Christian radio and watching Christian sermons on TV. She took endless notes of what she learned and passed that wisdom on to her family. Her greatest joy was cooking for her family, and she really, really loved her McDonald’s Happy meals with a vanilla shake. She dearly loved her grandchildren and loved watching them grow and succeed.

The picture shown is a day at a dentist appointment. She was amazed at the view of the clouds and sky through the window and stated with her hands open…

“This is what I will see when I see Jesus”

Her greatest desire is that you all would receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior so she can see you again.

Her ceremony will begin at 11:00am at Daniels Family Funeral on September 4, 2026, at 3113 Carlisle Blvd NW in ABQ, NM. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, followed by a reception.
