Marie Begay

Funeral services for Marie Begay, 61, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, at The Potter House, Chinle. The Rev. Artie Aragon will officiate. Burial will be in Chinle Community Cemetery. Begay died Aug. 22, 2010, in Mesa. She was born Nov. 1, 1948, in Ganado, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Near the Water People Clan. Begay loved to spend time with her grandchildren, being a homemaker, watching game shows on TV and playing bingo. Survivors include her sons, Joseph Kee Begay, Joei Kee Begay, Jeremy Kee Begay, all of Chinle; daughter, Josephine Shorty of Chinle; sisters, Marjorie Segay, Molly Segay, both of Chinle; seven grandchildren. Begay was preceded in death by her parents, Kee Chee Segay, Zonnie Day Say; brothers, Jimmy Segay, Jerry Segay; sisters, Margaret Segay, Mary Ann Segay, Martha Gorman, Marcy Ann Segay. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kee Begay, Jordon Carroll, Deiane Shorty, Johnathan Gorman, Jerald Segay. The family will receive relatives and friends at Segay’s residence, 1/4 mile north of old police department, Chinle, following services.
