Marie passed away in her home, on Monday, June 24, 2024. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, John Ginan Sr., her daughter Audra (Ginan) Cook, her brother Joseph Bovenzi and her parents Pasquale and Pauline Bovenzi who came to New Mexico from Elmont, N.Y. in 1970.
Marie is survived by her two beloved sons, John Ginan Jr., Michael Ginan and Tamara Beaty, her grandchildren, her sister Lori (Bovenzi) Leeds (her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren), brother Vincent C. Bovenzi and wife Dee, nephews, nieces and many life-long friends.
Marie was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Thomas Acquinas Parish in Rio Rancho and volunteered to be the Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America (CDA) #2306 for the last year. She had just signed up for another term as Regent.
Marie worked many years for the Albuquerque Journal as a Commercial Artist before retiring. After retiring, Marie and her husband John began traveling to different states in their 5th wheel with other friends who enjoyed the trips, and then John and Marie became “Snowbirds” and established a residency in Mesa, Arizona where they spent and enjoyed their days during the Winter season each year. After John’s passing in 2008, Marie sold her home in Mesa, AZ., and moved back permanently into their home in Rio Rancho, NM.
Marie also was a long-time charter member of the Italian American Association in Rio Rancho, N.M. that her parents were involved in establishing in the early 1970’s.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 9:45 a.m., at St. Thomas Acquinas Church, a Rosary at 10:00 a.m., and a Mass at 10:30 a.m. The burial will be after Mass at Vista Verde Cemetery. Flowers donated should be sent to Daniels Funeral Home at Vista Verde Cemetery in Rio Rancho, N.M. prior to July 9, 2024.
