Marion Schwendeman Lauer

January 12, 1925 — November 3, 2009

LAUER- Marion Schwendeman Lauer, age 84, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2009 from the complications of a stroke. She was born on January 12, 1925 in Athens Ohio to the late Dr. Joseph Raymond and Eithnea O'Donnell Schwendeman and had lived in Albuquerque from May 1954 until her passing. She is survived by her son David Lauer, and his wife Amy and grandson Tom all of Albuquerque; her son, Michael Lauer of Sacramento, California; sister-in-law Peggy Schwendeman of Lexington, Kentucky. She is also survived by siblings sister, Mother Mary Elaine Schwendeman O.C.D. and Joseph R. Schwendeman Jr., wife Grace, all of Richmond Kentucky; Frank Schwendeman, wife Fredwyn, and Beth O'Donnell all of Lexington, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald R. Schwendeman. Marion received her RN from Nazareth College in Pittsford, NY and her BSN from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. She retired in 1992 from the University of New Mexico Student Health Center where she worked as a registered nurse in the Allergy and Immunization Clinic. After retirement, she worked for three years at Lovelace Scientific Resources. Marion loved the pleasures of daily life, most especially time with family. She also enjoyed travel, reading, cooking, college basketball and singing with the University of New Mexico Chorus. Her sons will always remember her love and devotion in raising them in a warm household with strong ethics, conviction and a sense of purpose. They will also remember her interest and involvement in their lives as boys, young men and as adults. Her tender touch, care and participation in the life if her grandson Tom will never be forgotten by her family. Her nephew Father Daniel Schwendeman will be officiating.
