It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Edwin Chavez on December 1, 2024, at the age of 64, surrounded by his family.
Mark was proud to be a lifelong North Valley resident, beloved and well known in the area. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 2, 1960 to Clemente and Bernadine Chavez.
Mark was known for his strong will, contagious personality, desire for adventure, and the love and support he had for his family.
Mark retired from the City of Albuquerque Housing Authority in 2005. He spent his final years doing what he loved most, being "Papa" to his grandchildren. He had many lifelong hobbies and was proud to be an avid Harley rider, musician (drummer), hunter, dog breeder, traveler, horseback rider, and just all-around hustler.
Preceded in joining the Lord by his father, Clemente Chavez; grandparents, Silvano and Josephine Chavez (godparents), and Juan and Julianna Chavez; godfather, William "Uncle Billy" Brady; father-in-law, Joe Otero.
He is survived by his mother, Bernadine Chavez; loving wife of 45 years, Mary "Tina" Chavez; sons, Marcos Chavez and Mario J. Chavez; daughter, Martina Naomi Israel; son-in-law, Charles Ezra Israel; grandchildren, Marcos "Dominic" Padilla-Chavez Jr, Klara Lynn Chavez, Elijah Israel, Elisabeth Israel, Elisha Israel, and Ezekiel Israel; sisters, Bernadette Chavez and Madeline Duran; brothers, Matthew Chavez, Gary Chavez (Annette), and John Chavez (Marcia); uncles, Benton Chavez and David Lee Chavez; goddaughter, Justine JeanBaptiste; along with a large extended loving family of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless cousins.
A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, January 4th, 9:00am at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 immediately followed by Mass Service at 9:30am.
Mark's final resting place will be at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113. Burial and Celebration of Life (Balloon Fiesta Event Center) following mass service.
Mark Chavez will be greatly missed by his family and friends but never forgotten!
