Mark Mares

Mark Mares, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, was called home to the Lord on May 6, 2025, at the age of 60. Born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mark was a proud graduate of Santa Fe High School, Class of 1982. He dedicated his life to his family and his work, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and hard work.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Mares. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth, and their five children: Antonia (Rico), Josh (Rosa), Krystal, Phillip, and Mareo. He also leaves behind his siblings: William (Denise), Samuel (Colette), Linda (Matt), Dennis (Sylvia), and Frances (Gerald). Mark was a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply.

A member of the U.A. Local 412 Plumbers and Pipefitters, Mark was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. He ran his own business, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and clients alike. Outside of work, Mark had a zest for life. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and bring joy to those around him. His infectious smile and warm heart will be missed by all who knew him.

A public viewing of Mark will be held at Daniels Family Funerals & Cremation – Sara Rd. Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124, on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 11am to 1pm. 

Rosary and Funeral Mass will be at the Church of the Incarnation on (Tuesday) May 27, 2025, located at 2309 Monterrey Rd. NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144.  Arrive at the church at 9:30am, Rosary to start at 10:30am, Mass to follow at 11am.  Burial to follow at the Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery in Bernalillo immediately following the mass.  There will be a reception at the Mares Home.
