Mark Allen Rhodus

May 17, 1949 — July 1, 2023

Albuquerque

Mark Allen Rhodus was called peacefully by our Lord on the morning of July 1, 2023.

Beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He is survived by his daughter Lisa Alvarez, whom he adored, son in law Louis Alvarez, grandsons Andrew, Alex, and Michael, sister Pam (Kurt) Wagener, and brother Claude T. Rhodus III.   He is also survived by his loving partner Helen Baca-Robinson, her son Carl (Josie) Robinson, their son Stevie (Anna) Robinson, and her daughter Barbara (Mike) Myers, whom he loved and respected like their own father and grandfather, and vice versa.   He was preceded in death by his father Claude T. Rhodus II, his mother Ruth M. Rhodus, and nephew Shane Garvin.

Mark was a Navy veteran and worked for the Social Security Administration for 36 years.  He also worked for UNM for over 30 years as a parking attendant. He was an avid lover of cats and never missed an episode of Lawrence Welk or Jeopardy. Mark loved to read, play sudoku, and do crossword puzzles. He could hold a conversation on any topic from history, and enjoyed watching old movies and TV shows.

Mark's caring spirit, sense of humor, and charm made it easy for anyone who ever met him to immediately like and love him.  Memories with Mark are coupled with laughter and happiness.  No words will truly express how much he will be missed.
