Mark Edward Swanson, known affectionately as Swannie, passed away on May 16, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on November 27, 1961, in Redondo Beach, California. Mark leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments that will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
Mark was a passionate family man who adored spending time with his loved ones, and never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh. Whether watching or playing sports, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or tending to his garden, Mark's joy knew no bounds. Mark was elected to membership in the PGA of America in 2009, and dedicated himself to a career in golf, a game that he loved. He served as a PGA Golf Professional for more than 15 years in various roles throughout the Sun Country Section, touching many lives along the way. Throughout his life, Mark achieved great milestones that brought him pride and fulfillment. He was a valued member of the golf family, the Isotopes staff, and Sagebrush church. His dedication to these communities showcased his generous spirit and unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Mary Ellen (nee Olson) Swanson of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Jessica (Chris) Saavedra of Rio Rancho, NM; granddaughter Isabella Saavedra of Rio Rancho, NM; son Nick Swanson of Albuquerque, NM; father James (Anna) Swanson of Los Lunas, NM; brother Allan (Laurinda) Swanson of Knoxville, TN; sister Judy (Dave) Coningham of Albuquerque, NM; brother Mike (Sara) Swanson of Flower Mound, TX. In addition to his immediate family members, Mark is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Paulette Swanson. Their memories together will forever be cherished by those who knew them.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Mark "Swannie" Swanson will be held on May 24th, 2024, at Sagebrush Community Church, Riverside in Albuquerque. The service will begin at 10:30 AM with a reception to follow at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly encourage donations to either Presbyterian Ear Institute or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.

We know that Mark would have wanted to leave you laughing and not crying. We hope they make you chuckle and remember your favorites as well.
