Martha Ann Colhoun, age 66, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, since 2012, passed
away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 after an extended illness. She is survived
by her husband, Duncan Colhoun, also of Albuquerque, and her sister and
brother-in-law, Mary and Andy Benton of Tucson, Arizona, her brother-and-sister-in-law
Scott and Michelle Cowan, her cousins Nancy and Margaret, her loving friends
Mary Quirolo and Cindy Young, and her dear friend of 40 years, Julie Tanski, as
well as her many friends in the New Mexico Watercolor Society and the
Albuquerque Urban Sketchers. Martha's art reflected her love of nature,
especially animals. She was trained in jewelry as an art form at the University of
Arizona, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1985. She spent over
25 years working as a designer-goldsmith, one of the few women in that
profession. Her compassion for others has endeared her to many. Martha always
opened her heart to cats, who were her “kids.”
Martha's Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at Daniel's Family Funeral
Home on Sara Road in Rio Rancho on Wednesday, April 5th 2023 at 2 PM.
Martha's remains will be sent to Holy Hope cemetery in Tucson for interment
with her mother, Rose Ann May.
