Marvin Bernstein, 84 passed away peacefully in his home on December 11th, 2017. He is preceded in death by his 4 siblings and his beloved son David Bernstein. Marvin is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Rhoda who is the foundation of the family. He is also survived by his daughters Lori Sisk, her husband Brian and son Brandon; Andrea Lazo, her husband Courtney, son Ryan and wife Stephanie, and daughter Amber Haggerty and husband Michael.
Marvin was born on August 7th, 1933 to Benjamin and Fannie Bernstein in Brooklyn, NY. Marvin served in the US Army during the Korean War and joined the NYPD in 1956 retiring with the rank of Sergeant. In 1976, Marvin and Rhoda moved the family to Rio Rancho where he started Marvin and Son Ceramic Tile until his second retirement.
An avid golfer, Marvin could be found most weekends on the green and in his later years attending the Lobo Men’s Basketball games. Marvin attended his final game on December 9th enjoying a hot dog and hot chocolate and schmoozing with the UNM Staff and Officers.
Services will be held at Sara Chapel Road in Rio Rancho, Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marvin’s name to the National Kidney Foundation.
