Mary Kircher

November 5, 1929 — December 18, 2023

Mary Jane Kircher passed away on December 18, 2023, at Good Samaritan Manzano del Sol in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Kircher, and a son, Christopher Paul Kircher. She is survived by her children Monica Campbell, Ann Risinger, Michael Kircher, Dorcas Boerner, and Francesca Kircher, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Mary was born in New Jersey in 1929. She graduated with a degree in mathematics from Clark University in Massachusetts. Mary began working for Los Alamos in the 1950’s as part of a small group of women computer programmers and coders.

It was during her work in Los Alamos that she met and married John A. Kircher in 1953. Mary’s many interests throughout the years included stamps - she was a member of the Palo Duro Philatelic Society in Albuquerque.  Mary was also a member of the Fiber Arts Guild, and the Albuquerque Historical Society. 

 

A memorial service for Mary Kircher will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Chad’s Episcopal Church, 7171 Tennyson NE,  Albuquerque, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Mary’s charities: Joy Junction Shelter, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Roadrunner Foodbank of New Mexico, or The Salvation Army.
