A longtime resident of Corrales, Mary Elizabeth Westcott Kuhn, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She lived to be 101 years old, living the last 50 years in Corrales, NM. Mary was born on January 11, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois during World War I.
Her childhood was spent in the Tri-Cities area of Iowa where she met and married George D. Kuhn. With George, she began her life as a military wife. During the family’s travels as a military family, they lived in many places in the United States and Europe in the postwar years. A special love of the American Southwest led the family to settle and build a homestead in Corrales, New Mexico in the mid-1960s.
Mary and George raised three children - Mimi, a long time Albuquerque school teacher (who predeceased Mary). Hank, a retired trust officer (who resides in Rio Rancho with his wife Sharon) and Betsy, a retired Albuquerque public schools family counselor and artist (who resides in Santa Fe with her husband, Joseph). Mary was a wonderful pianist, a fabulous cook, and the center of a family that dearly loved her.
Mary will be missed, and forever honored and remembered by her children, Hank Kuhn and Betsy Kuhn Riggs; her grandchildren, Chad Kuhn of Albuquerque, Shane Kuhn of Albuquerque, Matt Kuhn of Rio Rancho, Carol Riordan of Albuquerque, John Riordan of Boise, Idaho; and many great grandchildren.
