Mary "Kathy" Ortiz

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary "Kathy" Ortiz, announce her unexpected passing on July 27, 2021 due to a tragic accident.
She was born in Albuquerque, NM on October 20, 1947 to Mary Duran and Natividad Candelaria and raised by her maternal grandparents, Lucio and Graciana Garcia.
After a long working career at both Mountain Bell and the City of Albuquerque she retired to begin doing the things she enjoyed, playing bingo, trying her luck at the casino, making her stuffing for Thanksgiving, making potato salad and red & green chile for family gatherings, snacking on her favorite NM red chile chips; and doing the things she loved, which was spending time with her kids and grandkids, whom she was selfless and devoted to.
She is survived by daughter Monica Ortiz and spouse Jasmin Hendrickson; son Anthony Candelaria; four grandchildren, Ray and Janessa Duran, Destiny and Dominic Ortiz-Hendrickson; siblings Peggy Candelaria and Roy Brown; Ray & Priscilla Garcia; aunt Vera Valles; sisters-in-law, Mela Candelaria and Geneva Brown; godchildren Angelica Ortiz and Roman Parada; former spouse, Chris Ortiz, and many more family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brothers Wilfred Candelaria and Johnny Brown, sisters Erlinda Candelaria and Louise Chavez, and sister-in-law Rita Brown.
Honorary Pallbearers: Vince Candelaria, David Brown, Liz Garcia, Antoinette Candelaria, Janessa Duran, Ray Duran, Susanna Serna, Missy Ortiz, and Melissa Candelaria.
Recitation of the Rosary and Communion Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 820 Broadway Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. A Reception to follow at the St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall. Internment to take place at a later date. Masks are encouraged.
