Mary Kathryn Rieb

Mary Kathryn Rieb, RN, MSN, aka Mary K, 70, passed away on the 6th of September, 2026 after a long illness. Born in Denver, Colorado, moving to Albuquerque at 9 years old, she was known by many as a nurse at Kaseman hospital then as a nursing instructor at CNM, Central New Mexico Community College. Mary truly loved teaching and met many former students during her health visits, learning she had affected some in very meaningful ways. She loved animals, especially dogs. Mary had several dogs during her life although none at the time of her passing. A nature lover, her backyard was full of bird feeders with many plants that birds loved and she also made several visits to various European destinations.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mae and her brother, Mark, MD. She is survived by her sister, Terri, and her brother, Declan (Elizabeth) as well as nieces Katie and Megan; and nephews, Sean (Amber), Brian (Alissa), Jesse (Kelly), Nathan, Michael (Stacy), John (Taylor) and Andrew (Alyssa). She leaves two grand-nieces and eight grand-nephews as well as many cherished cousins. Also touching Mary’s life were the cheerful lunch bunch group from high school days at St Pius and many in the nursing community.

Memorial service will be held at Daniels Family Chapel, 7601 Wyoming NE on 28 September, 2026 at 6:00 pm (or 1800 hours.) This service will include Nightingale Nurse Honor Guard and Tribute. Internment will be carried out privately by family.
