PYEATT- Max L. Pyeatt, 88, passed away September 28, 2010. He was born April 3, 1922, in Custer City, OK, to Lemuel and Lola (McCallon) Pyeatt. Max was a resident in New Mexico since 1949. He gave a lot of his time for many different activities. Max did a lot of volunteer work including being the caretaker of Grace Park Methodist Camp, was a member of the Highland Harmonizers, and an active participant of the Senior Olympics. Max was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for many years. One of Max’s biggest accomplishments in his life was being a decorated WWII Veteran. He was part of the 45th Infantry, earning 10 medals, making 7 amphibian landings in the European Theater, and helped free many prisoners from concentration camps. From the 45th Infantry, he then joined the Sea Bees, finally going into the National Guard, with a military career spanning over 40 years. His life was centered around his family, singing, and country. Max is survived by his wife, Norma Houston-Pyeatt; children, Ronda Gryniuk and husband, Don Love of Las Cruces, NM, and Barbara Martinez, and husband, Ron of Boulder, CO; grandson Jason Gryniuk; and three step daughters, Carla, Debra, and Shari. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Pyeatt in 1994. No formal services are planned at this time. Max will be laid to rest in Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date with honors.
