Mayme C. Aragon

Mayme C. Aragon, 83, of Socorro New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, after bravely battling cancer.

Born on May 9,1939 to Gregorio and Senaida Chavez in McNary, Arizona where she spent her childhood with her 9 siblings. After graduating from Mc Nary High School in 1957, she went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University and later to receive a master’s degree in Bilingual education from New Mexico State University. She lived most of her adult life in Socorro New Mexico, with her husband Max where she raised her 6 children. Mayme’s greatest joy derived from her family providing a caring, loving, supportive, and kind influence in the lives of all she touched, especially her 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  A pillar of Mayme’s life was her Catholic faith, which she embodied with her unending service to her community. She taught Sunday school, served as a eucharistic minister, and faithfully participated in the Legion of Mary. A dedicated active member in the Legion for over 50 years she lived her faith daily through acts of service, spiritual counsel, and leadership.

Mayme was predeceased by her husband Maximiliano Aragon II; her parents Gregorio and Senaida Chavez; her siblings Ulban Chavez, Clifford Chavez, Juanita Perea, Ignacia Maestas, and Rachel Vallejos. She is survived by her siblings Mary Ulibarri, Alfredo Chavez, Orlando Chavez, Audrelia Chavez; her children Senaida LeBlanc, Lucaria Chavez, Audrelia Crawford, Maximiliano Aragon III, Gregorio Aragon, and Ulban Aragon; her grandchildren Amanda Gutierrez-Dotson, Genevieve Snyder, Paige Hedges, Vanessa Lowrimore, Curtis Chavez, Richard Pino, Marie Pino, Andrew Pino, Cynthia Aragon, Helen Mayme Aragon, Caleb Crawford, Gabriella Aragon, Jordan Aragon, Ophelia Aragon, Claudia Aragon and Maximiliano Aragon and her 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday August 5th at 9:30 for Rosary and 10:00 for Funeral Mass at San Miguel Church in Socorro, New Mexico with burial  and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Legion of Mary, an organization Mayme felt strongly about.
