Mercedes(Auntie Mercy) C. Chavez

CHAVEZ-Mercedes C. Chavez (Auntie Mercy), 79, a resident of Corrales, NM passed away October 19, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Justo Chavez; children, Katie Chavez-Bessom and husband Steven, Donnie Chavez, Debby Tafoya and husband Tony, Carmen Chavez, Becky Chavez and life partner Darrow Everage; grandchildren, Stephanie Macarenas, Monica Bessom, Brooke Bessom, Sarah Chavez, Melinda Dean, Antonio Tafoya, Mia Chavez; great-grandchild, Tanner Dean; sister, Francis Vallejos; brothers, Albert Vallejos and wife Dolores, Aurelio Vallejos. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the New Mexico Cancer Center and also the staff of Presbyterian Hospital, 4th floor. Auntie Mercy was famous for her “Red Chile” and was always involved within the community. Of her many attributes, she was loving, easy going, had a great sense of humor and you could always feel at home around her. She adored her husband and family. A Visitation will be held 6:00pm-7:00pm, Thursday, October 21, 2010, with a Rosary to follow at 7:00pm, Thursday, October 21, 2010, San Ysidro Catholic Church, 5015 Corrales Road, Corrales, NM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00am, Friday, October 22, 2010, San Ysidro Catholic Church. Interment will follow mass at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM.
