Obituary

Michael Andrew Campbell passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on February 12, 2026, at 1:48 a.m. at Rust Medical Center. His wife, Peggy, and grandson, Ethan, were blessed to be by his side when he left for glory, fulfilling the words of his favorite hymn, “When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder, I’ll Be There.”

Michael was born on March 27, 1943, to Benjamin and Audrey Campbell in Aurora, where he was raised in a happy home alongside his siblings Pat, Daniel, Bruce, Wendy, and Jeff. After graduating from high school in 1961, Mike joined the Army. He later married Peggy Craig, and together they lived in Germany during his time in service.

Upon returning to civilian life in 1964, Mike began working for Illinois Bell, where he faithfully served for 27 years before retiring as a manager. Mike and Peggy were blessed with three children: Peter, Deborah, and Anne.

In 1995, Mike and Peggy moved to New Mexico to be near their beloved son, Peter. Even after his retirement in 1991, Mike continued working—helping others, building projects, and making friends wherever he went. Above all, he loved sharing the message of Jesus’ love and the truth of the Bible. For more than 60 years, he faithfully preached the gospel in various places, touching countless lives.

Michael is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Peggy; his daughter, Deborah Elmquist; his grandson, Ethan (Vanessa) Campbell; his great-grandchildren, Jack, Walker, and Riley of Rio Rancho; and Nathan, Donovan (Alpha) Elmquist, and great-granddaughter Adaliah of Oregon and Jane Bales of Rio Rancho. He is also survived by his brother Bruce Campbell, Pat (John) Stauff and Wendy (Jack) Burns.

There will be a viewing Monday Feb 23rd from 6-8 PM and funeral on the 24th at 11 AM. The services will be held at Daniels Family Funeral home located at 4310 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
