Michael D. Burkholder

Michael was born in Waterloo, Iowa on September 19, 1949 to Michael and Audrey Miltenberger. 

She joined the Unites States Air Force and became a Nurse Technician. 

In 1968 she met Robert Burkholder, to whom she married in August of 1970. They were married 53 years.

On November 6, 2023, Michael was called home to our lord. 

Preceded in death by her parents: Michael Miltenberger, Audrey Miltenberger, sisters: Helen Thoms, Mary Trumbauer, Patricia Miltenberger, brothers: John Miltenberger and Paul Miltenberger.  Also preceded in death by her parents-in-law: Clarence (Bob) Burkholder, Doris Burkholder; brother-in-law: Stephen Burkholder, nephew: Stephen Burkholder.

Michael is survived by her Husband- Robert Burkholder, daughters and family members: Carrie Burkholder; grandsons: Shawn Hulce (Sarah Hulce), Kristopher Hulce, Aaron Hulce (Angiiy Hulce); Christie Reynolds (Brian Reynolds) grandchildren: Susan Zimmerly (Shawn Zimmerly), Mary Reynolds, Devin Reynolds, Levi Reynolds, Niki Reynolds; Melissa Barnard (Jeffrey Barnard) grandchildren: Anthony Barnard, Caden Barnard, Kami Barnard; Cynthia Zimmerman (Jacob Zimmerman) grandchildren: Michael Zimmerman, Matthew Zimmerman, Tyler Zimmerman, Ashley Zimmerman and 10 great grandchildren.

Michael loved working for the Albuquerque Public Schools as an assistant teacher working with the disabled children that she loved dearly.  She also enjoyed volunteering at her church, St. Thomas Aquinas.  She volunteered as a CCD Teacher, Adult Bible Study Teacher and Eucharistic Minister. 

Michael loved reading, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. 

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

On December 2, 2023 a Rosary Service will be held for Michael at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 10:00AM.  Memorial service will be held at 10:30am. The church is located at: 1502 Sara Rd; Rio Rancho, NM 87124.  A reception will follow to be held at the American Legion located at 1500 Barbara Loop SE; Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
